My five genre for my iphone, sci-fi, puzzle, horror, adventure and action. what i did was make up a mind map of what 5 genres i would choose then i did several icons that could represent each of the chosen gernes, once i had a great variation of icons i choose my finales and improved on the chosen ones. when doing my finale icons i was very protechique on it, i fought very carefully about what i wanted my icons to look like, i wanted to represent there true purpose for there genre with an outstanding background of course. for sci-fi i fought spaceships and the stars which is what sci-fi is basically, for puzzle i fought of borrowing the riddler icon from Batman because he him self is a challenge for the mind, for horror i wanted to go for an ironic/misleading joke where i would use the head of teddy bear which isn't scary and turn it into something scary, for the adventure i fought what would represent adenture better then indiana jones so i did a template of indiana jones hat, for action i fought of what things are asociated with action (voilents, explosions, war, fighting) so i went with a bloody nuclear symbols. each of these icons have been traced over hand drawings by me that i took a picture of and draw around on photoshop.
Each of my finale icons that i have done meet my exact intenstions.
when working on this project i spent about an hour doing my planning, another hour working on my finale design and about an hour and a half finalilizing it on photoshop. I suppose i could of done things more effishant if i was a better player on photoshop, its i just struggle a bit on photoshop trying to find my way around.
I found that the planning side to particularly easy but the finalelizing a bit hardish.
i wouldn't try to compare my actual icons to a profecinal i feel it isn't as ellegant as them but comparing my ideas i would say works better then an profecinals.
Other people think my work is a piece of ingenius work.
if i was to improve on it i would try add more detailed texture or something like that.
if i was to do it again i would ask for more help into making it look more detailed.

Friday 2 December 2011

This was my work on photoshop being processed to 3D max and this is the final product, I used a template on 3D max to colour in the parts that i wanted coloured in my vision, i was able to add detail hence the lights and windows with a wee bit of blood. on this project we taught how to put images on 3D max objects, from images from the inter-web to photoshop to edit and then dragged into 3D studio max onto the object. on this project we started out by pulling out a rectangle and molding it into car like shape then we added to cylinders for wheels. when i drew out the rectangle i did it by 5x2, then from the rectangle i pulled out parts of the rectangle to create the driver area then i started to in-dent parts of the car to give it the car-shape.
once i i finished building the model of the car i went onto photoshop were i got temple of different parts of a car, the grill, head light and windows, once i got different parts of cars on photoshop i edit it out on photoshop to get rid of the parts i don't need, once i did that i dragged these pictures onto this colour editing tool thing which from there were know effects that i then dragged onto the body of the car which came out as the finishing product above.
comparing this to professional example would be like comparing it to a childs toy, to be onist it ain't that impressive.
when i showed of my car they weren't that impressed with it because of its orful appeal but they did find the blood stain amuzing.
the only thing i would of done differently or changed would be to make it look more like a sports car or a classic american muscle car.
for me i learned a great deal on how to apply images from the inter-web to photoshop to 3D studio max.

Reflection on my 3D model

  • I suppose i could improve imy 3D model by maybe adding texture like maybe a army com or desert warfare to give it a more realistic feel.
  • expand my inteligence level to understand my way around 3D max.
  • Everything i suppose.
  • My lack of inteligence that slightly slowed me down.
  • I thought i used my time very well, I managed to do my model in 3 hours or so and then i used the rest of my time into doing a short animation with my blade runner.
  • I have learned a great deal in 3D studio max, such as lighting, texturing and manlipueming my objects to fit my ideas.
  • Probaly any challenge that i'm comfronted with.
  • yes, but not entirly because i wasn't able to go into greater detail as i hope i would, considering the lack of Knowledge.

Here's a video that i worked on, on my blade runner model.this was an animation that i had to do using my created model and want i went with was the cards i was dealt with and what i went with was have my blade runner veichle go over a ramp and get a bit of air and come back to solid ground and dissappear of screen and with my idea set in place i wanted to try to make this as realisic as possible so i had to take into account gravity, he weight of the vehicle, the speed and i had to try aline the veichle with the ramp so there wouldn't of been a gap between the veihcle and the ramp or it didn't phase through the ramp. I loaded up my blade runner vehicle, drawed out a plane for my vehicle to run and a rectangle on an angle to create a make shift ramp and a light at the centre of attention.

Trying out animation on 3d max..., this was the first time i tried animation on 3D studio max, on this we showed off our animation skills, showed that we could such things as this, this animation is just a tea cup lifting it self up and tipping it self and then coming backdown, nothing impressive.  on the bottom of the screen there this bar were you can set how long you want the animation and set when you want to move your animation so when you move your object it recorcds what you moved.

Here is my my one wheeled motorcycle called the blade runner, i have been working on this in 3D max, what i was going for here was a one wheeled motorcycle that could charge through enemies and cover and be able to cut right throughthem, with some fire power to attack long range, there is a tv screen to see through the the wheel and to find enemies like a sona radar. how i made this, i started off with a cylinder and created so it would look like a thin donut so that's the main wheel bases, for the chair i used to square blocks to create something that came out as deck chair, i created an engine and for the engine i drew out a sphere and molded it to give it some sort engine characteristic. when making this model i wanted to put a bit realism from a real-life one wheeled motorcycle so i but some structure in the one wheeled motor cycle to give it balance and to make it look real and that could hold the guns and the TV screen, to make the tv screen i attached a small pyrnaid, for the guns i made a sphere and the cylinder for the guns then i used the copy trick (hold+shift) to create multiple guns.

if i was to compare this to a professional example i would say it was right up in the professional example but it needs more detail.

when i showed off my blade runner they weren't entily impressed, they criticized that it look like to like over vehicles.

the only thing that i could of done to improve would be to have a better varaiton of colours so that it would look much better and gritty.

what i would of done differently would be to add little ruged blades around the vehicle.

on this bases i didn't what i already learned at the time, i just used the basic that i already aquired from early lessons.

Here's me messing around on 3D studio MAX playing around with the lighting on a teapot, I used multi lighting around the teapot and it came up with this. this was when we started to learn about lighting and the effect it has, when it lights up the area, the object and the shadow it forms, when messing around with the light tool we learned that there were different types of lights tools that produce different effects, as well as different light tools you can also choose the amount of light you can produce and size of light.
Here's my insperation for my adventure icon.

icons part 1

here is my finialeized drawing plan for my icons.(bamboo pen & touch.) the steps that i took to do this was scan my work through canoscan and made shore i was in photoshop then i click on file, import, canoscan, preview and scan and then my image came on photoshop which i then copied onto my blogger.

this work is a mock up/a plan to my designs and thought on what icon i'm wanting for video game genre icons. i started off by asking myself what sort of genres i wanted, so i choose puzzle, adventure, sci-fi, action, horror. Once i choose my genres i started making up my designs each genres which you can see as well as a personal profile on each icons.

comparing this to a  professional example, i would say i'm heading in the right direction on how a professional does it by planning it out and writting about each one.

the thing i could improve or change about this was do more examples of different icons.

Here's me playing on 3D MAX, this is when we were messing around on the colour effects were i draw out 3 random objects, then i went on this menu were there were sevral spheres were you could set up numeruces colour effects, once on that menu i selected an effect and then a colour and then dragged that colour effect on to a object which covered that object in that colour effect as you can see above.
I did three different colour effects to three different shapes.
here is my furturistic space ship, thats awsome. it was designed in 3D studio max. with this little project we were experimenting more with what you can do with a an object and strech different parts of it. when designing our spaceships we used a tool called "the mirror tool" which copies the object but what you do to one the other one does the same. how i started my spaceship was i built one of the two thrusters/engines and i modeled it to my vision, then i used the "mirror tool" which copied a second thruster/engine then i made a reasonable amount of space so i could build my cock-pit to my vision.

If i was to compare this to a professional example i would say that it needs to be more detailed in design and colour maybe a brand but my imagination is aiming in the right direction.

when i showed off my spaceship, they won't that intrested in it because they said it was to plane simple but i think it looks great.

i don't think that i would change anything about it, i like the way mine spaceship came out.

the one thing that i would of done differently was done a different spaceship that i thought of, completely different to the one above, a space crusier.

when making this spaceship i learned about the "mirror tool" another way of coping things.

M3-V39

This is an idea that i had for a vehicle, combining the vehicle from gears of war, the junker and the the gears of war 2 vehicle... the tank thing or what ever, creating a fast moveable tank able to carry a good amount of people with a cannon on the back, with two machine guns on the side.

3D house

This is my 3D house that i made in 3D max. its green :], when we did this we were experiment what we could make with just one object which was to be a house so what i basically did was draw out a box and started poking, what i was tort was click on the object we wanted which was a square then went on to an extra menu were you can choose the amount of square blocks for height and wight. once selected i drew out my box, i was then able to select individual blocks were i can select one or by holding down shift and clicking on multiple blocks i could move a group of blocks through this process i was able to indent windows, door and pull out an extra room. when working on the roof i found it a little more irrating, i pulled out a little extra level for a roof and then were you can select squares to strech out i changed it so you can select the edge  of a block and strech it out which i then shaped into roof like shape and then using the tool to strech out a chimny and indent a roof window.

if i was to compare this to a professional example i would compare mine to a child drawing. with the lack of detail and different varation of colours it just don't feel that special.

when i showed off this model to other people they wasn't that impressed with the work they critized that it was to plane and simple.

the things that need to be improved with this work is colour it needs more different colour and i would change it to look more bonkers, more luderacozed.

on this project i learned how to indent and pull out blocks and the amount of square blocks you can have on a object.

Robo

This is my design of a furturistic warfare robot called the berserker, it was orignaly designed to be an exo-skelton suit, with one arm being an weapon and the other being a hand with the pioleting seat in the belly of the berserker. this whole design is made up of the following shapes: Pyrmaid, sphere, cylinder, squares. i started with the main body of my design, so i started with a sphere and flattened the front and back so it wouldn't look like some over-weight berk and for the head i made a smaller sphere and phased it into the main body and for the eyes i made one cylinder and made a hole in the middle to make it look like an eye skoets then to create another i used a neat copy trick were i hold down shift and click on the cylinder and dragged anotherone out creating my head. withthat done i started work on the arms, when working on the right arm which i decided to be the weaponized arms so i made a sphere for the sholder that would contect the arm to the weapon, the weapons was designed to have firing charatisicts as well as melee attachment, for the left arm it was the basic same design as the right arm except for this one would have a hand so for the left hand  i created a sphere  and streched it out giving a sauage look then for the finger tips created incredible fin square and used the shift+move techniuqe a full set. for the legs i created the lego man waste using a cylinder and sphere and for the legs i used cylinders as legs, spheres as joints for the pyrmaid feet.

I found this whole experince to be the most challenging thing i've done so far considering how major this project  was and it was my first time on 3D studio max , it was so hard trying to remeber all the tools, buttons, and the variation of effects you can have on each shape, it was murder to stay focus.

comparing this to a professinal example is like comparing twins there simular but there different none the less, i feel my robot design is kind of plane.
If i was to improve on this i would spend a bit more time on it, i feel that maybe i could done better in some areas and maybe made it a bit more futuristic. wha i would of done differently was balacaned out the legs and change the facial looks to more scary and made it look less chubby looking.
when over people sore my work they inpressed to the amount of work i put into it and the detail and that mine was better.
for me i learned a great amount of infomation from 3D studio max with the things you can do and create how it works.
