sound unit 73

Today i took my first step into learning more about the sound unit, today we just got to play and experiment with the sound equipment (mixer) and a micro-phone (sm 57 & 58), we used a software called Audacity 1.3 (beta).  Christpher made it clear that food and water were to be no where near the equipment in case it caused the equipment to be damage.
On the mixer chris showed us how to change the volume, the depth and how to make it sound eckoie, learning this we learned how to disguise our voices.

I would first map out my enviroment look at them individualy and think carefully about what sort of sounds you might hear in each enviroment so for example you might here the sound of a car, laughter of children, a gush of wind as well as the sounds you might here and would also take into consideration how they would the in each of these. I would consider the fact since its a different enviroment that things would sound differently like how foot steps would sound different to walking on grass to tar-mac.

With music it has to suit the situation rather then it being totally random.

shipley wharf stuff...

Shipley wharf was more of an area then just one building which made it more of a challenge but not impossible. I started of by making the resturaunt first, that place would be the centre point of my work, where i would start. This part was built up by two planes which would act a glass roofs, two blocks which would be part of the building and about four cylinders which would be pillars for the main entrance. (this is the ruff idea of the main bit which is the resturant).
Side to side of the resturant were terrce house, i managed to make this with only just one block, I first designed one building, I drew out a box and match the lenght to the resturant and the created the building like shape, same as shipley wharf, with these building they had a huge chunk of the building just hanging over the canal which i was able to extrude out of the original block and shape it perfectly like the building in shipley wharf, with the shaping done i then started to go into detail with the building and started to add indent for windows and doors so i would know what it would look like and where to put them, once i did this i then copied the original building and moved it to the over side since there buildings on each side that were the same on each side which help cut the work down a bit quicker.
from here I had to add another extention to right side of the building, because that how it look, so i draw out another box and match the sizes to the other building and gave it its building like shape. as well as some window and door features.
Once i finished the main of the buildings i started work on doing a canal which was real easy to make, i draw out a plane and extrude downwards so know it look like square bowl and then i draw another plane, matching the size of the extrusion, so that plane can have a texture that look like the canal.
Once i did the canal i started work on the other side which was the road, this was extremely easy, i just draw out a plane about a reasonable size of the road so i could put on the texture of the road.
Once i did that i started some more work back on my buildings and i thought to put in some drain pipes, for this i used a tool that allowed me to draw out railings which i managed to make them look like pipe lines, i stuck these in the proper of where pipe lines are stuck, after that i stuck in all the doors and windows and started work on texturing.
For the resturant i wanted a red brick texture because that was the colour of the resturant and it look pritty posh, the buildings a white brick texture because that was the colour of  building around the resturant, the doors i went for an old wooden texture because i felt that it look best that way in my opinion, windows light blue, pipe line black, for the road i didn't want use a texture parsay i wanted to use a picture of the road and put it on the plane to make it look more of a road and for the canal i managed to find a picture of some dirty merky water which is what canals look like in Britian.
With some of my enviroment i thought of using trees to block off the view that shows that nothing there, so i get to draw up some trees that helps block off  the other enviroment, so i use this to my advantage.

I didn't find this hard at all real because i suppose i just found it simple to do and i just built it so simpley, there wasn't anything complex to do it was just blocks and a little extruding.

I'm 50/50 on whether this is as good as a prof-, i think its o.k. but maybe there could be something to improve on.

I would say that to improve upon it i would need to work on the enviroment around my main enviroment so that it looks more real.

Planning for work

Here are my primary research photos, these photos are of the building that I am designing in 3D studio max.
The first set are pictures of the united reformed church, the second set is shipley wharf and the third set are some pictures of textures.
Being able to take pictures of these buildings really help with being able to get a better look, a more detailed and consentrated look, which help in creating a more detailed design of my building.
With these pictures it helps to answer question for these buildings like how many windows are needed, how many doors, what in-dents and what not.
All this research help with concept and designing these buildings.

Team meeting-04/02/2013

We as team descussed:

Waqar will be taking over the wix website, per.

saddique needs to his bio on his personal page on the wix site and needs to add another picture

3D Models

Waqar-having problem with the windows, to many to do, Steven gave a few good solutions on how to over come the problem. Waqar has completed half of salt and a canal boat, has not started  on the new mill or the music shop.

Steven-has completed the church with texture, shipley wharf needs added extra buildings around for the enviroment.

Concept Drawing

Steven has finished his concept drawing on the church but needs to start concept on shipley wharf

Waqar needs concept on music shop, boat, new mill and salt mill.

Saddique needs to add colour to his concept of warehouse.

Steven-will start on hirst lock next week

Saddique-will take over facebook
